The Bachelorette party or as we in Australia call it a hens party is a special day for the bride to be. Hens parties are a day/night to celebrate the brides wild years of singledom and the commitment that is to come, with one last blow out. Sounds like fun, right? Well, there’s one person who might consider the process a little less fun, and that’s the organiser. Yes, we’re talking to you, the best friend, the “most organised” or “most reliable” out of the group. I’m sure part of you is happy to be organising your friend’s hens. But don’t feel ashamed to admit that part of you is also probably dreading the logistical nightmare that is planning parties.
Because we know from firsthand experience how overwhelming planning events can be we’ve put together a step by step guide on how to plan the best hens night possible.
1. Chat to the bride to make sure you’re on the same page about hens party activities.
Choosing your hens party activities can be overwhelming; however, no need to stress, we’ve compiled a list of the 21 best hens party ideas. Our personal favourite (and also everyone else’s favourite) is Life Drawing, it’s the perfect classy hens idea. But! It still has the element of cheekiness that makes for the best hens night!
Once you’ve put together a list of potential activities, run what you’ve found by the hen to give her options to create the best hens night! Make sure to ask her if she has any other hens party ideas that you haven’t mentioned. Take note of what she seems excited about and cross out the ideas that she’s not so titillated by. We recommend making a list of 5 or so activities that you and the bride have agreed on. That way you have options, and you can keep what you’re doing a surprise for the hen.
2. Get a rough guest list together.
Before sending the bachelorette, invitations and choosing your hens night activities, you’ll need to have a rough idea of how many guests there will be. An estimate on numbers is essential to figure out what hens party entertainment will be best and where to hold it.
3. Choose your activity(s).
In our experience, the best hens parties include one or more interactive activities and just the right amount of alcohol. Including a fun activity which people have never experienced before is sure to win you bonus points! Another thing which people are sure to love is if they get to make their own drinks. Our Cocktail Making package is a guaranteed hit! This activity allows your guests to alter their cocktails to their own taste, learn new skills and enjoy the company of a handsome topless mixologist.
Which activity you choose should obviously depend on the brides’ preferences, the size of your group and what you think the rest of the group would enjoy.
4. Choose a venue that suits your activities.
If you’ve got a small guest list of 20 or less a hens party at home is a great option. Having your hens party at home will give it a great laid-back vibe, and you’ll save on the cost of the venue which you can stick into more fun hens party activities.
If you have a bigger guest list, then using a venue is a great option. Before starting your search, decide on a budget and hash out what you want from the venue. For example, do you want to have accommodation? Dinner? Brunch? Cocktails?
When you organise a hens party with us we can organise the venue for you too.
5. Organise decorations and accessories.
There’s an endless amount you could do when it comes to decoration and accessories. Luckily for you, we’ve compiled a comprehensive guide to hens party themes, decorations and accessories. If the hen wants to have more of a laid back hens party and you’re choosing to opt-out of themes etc. we would still recommend getting a bride to be sash for the hen to make her feel special. We have a hens night shop where you can buy bride to be sashes in black, rose gold or white and a variety of styles.
We also have team bride sash sets if you want to get everyone into the hens party mood.
6. Send out invitations.
Now, the bachelorette invitations could make or break your hens party. The strategy which will maximise your attendance is to send out an email or text AND create a Facebook event. We offer invitations for each of our packages that are enticing and guaranteed to get your guests excited. All you have to do is fill in the details and send them off.
We know how frustrating it can be when you plan a fantastic hens night, and people don’t rock up, so we wrote an article on how to avoid precisely that. You can take a look at it here.
7. HAVE FUN!
Now that you’ve gone through all the hard work to create an unforgettable hens day, it’s time to sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labour!
If you’d like to book one of our packages, we’ll come along to your party to make sure that everything runs smoothly and you don’t have to lift a finger.
