So… You’re the best friend? The most organised one? Or maybe you got stuck with the job because everyone else refused. But fear not, we’re here to help make throwing a hens day as easy as sleeping in on a Sunday is.

The usual hens party etiquette is that guests pay for themselves. So, you’re the one who’s left with the challenging job of finding something that everyone can afford. We all know there will always be that one person that’s stingy and will kick up a fuss. But, with our help, your guests will be over the moon about the day you’ve organised and they won’t have to break the bank.

When hosting a bachelorette party planning is essential. If you don’t plan ahead, sticking to a budget will prove to be difficult. As soon as you have a moment, we recommend mapping out all of the elements you’d like to include in the day. This will give you a good overview of all the expenses that you might incur. Plus it will let you prioritise what is most important to make the day special.

There are different areas to consider when trying to figure out the total cost of your hens party. From our experience these are the top 5 most important elements of a hens party:

  1. The venue
  2. The food
  3. The drinks
  4. The activity
  5. The accessories/decorations

Luckily, we’ve collected all the data you need over 7+ years to make sure you’re maximising the money you’ve got. We’ll give you tips and tricks on how to best navigate each element to make sure that your hen and guests are stoked!

  1. The venue

The venue is one of the easiest areas where you can cut serious costs. Our best and most simple solution: have your hens party at home. We’ve hosted over 600 hens’ parties, of which at least 400 have been hosted at one of the hens friends’ homes. So, we can say with certainty that hosting your hens party at home is a great way to cut costs. More importantly, it does not have any impact on the amount of fun your guests will have. If anything, we’ve found that the hens parties at someone’s home are more fun! Our speculation is that this is because people feel more comfortable at a home. They’re more likely to let loose and have fun. On top of that you don’t have to be stressed about staying on schedule to go from one venue to the next.

If you’re not able to find anyone who would be open to hosting the hens party at their home, we have another solution! We’ve worked very hard to find venues that can fit everyone’s budget. We work with two venues that a great for groups on a budget. The Rockford is a spacious hotel that is set in the perfect location. We’ve worked with the Rockford to create exclusive packages that are available only to our clients. The packages we’ve organised range from $15 per person to $85 per person, to ensure that there’s something for everyone. Alternatively we also have our own venue in Largs (Art Logic) which has just a small rental fee and you can BYO.

  1. The food

For at home:

Having your hens party at home sets you up brilliantly to create a delicious and cheap spread. Everyone will think you got an expensive caterer for the party. 2019 created an amazing trend that is cheap, visually aesthetic and perfect for a party – grazing tables!

Grazing tables are a marvellous invention that allows your guests to graze throughout the night. This means you don’t have to worry about the logistics of hosting a big dinner.

We’ve done all the research for you and found an article that maps all the elements you need in a grazing table out. ( It even tells you how to make it the most aesthetically pleasing grazing table your guests have seen.

For at a venue:

If you’re hosting your hens at a venue, we would recommend ordering shared plates rather than a sit down dinner. In our experience this always ends up being more cost effective.

  1. The drinks

I’m not sure if I’m the only one, but when I go out for drinks with the intention of budgeting it never works out. One drink becomes two which becomes five and you end up with a $100 bill. When it comes to cocktails, it’s even worse. Our solution: make your cocktails at home! Hens Party Adelaide offers a cocktail making party where you get to make your own cocktails. Added bonus: you get taught by a topless handsome hunk! We provide all the materials and alcohol. To find out more click here:

If you and your friends are not big drinkers and you don’t think cocktails would suit your style then we have another great idea. Buy a bunch of midrange prosecco, which can range from $5 per bottle to $20, but certainly won’t break the bank. Now, for the exciting party! Pimp up your prosecco. Creating a pimp your prosecco is the perfect budget activity that will still leave your guests excited at the prospect of personalising their drinks. Here’s an example of one we love for inspiration.

  1. The activity

There are plenty of activities out there in South Australia that will set you back at least $80 per person. This isn’t exactly a small sum when you add drinks, food and accessories to it.

Luckily, Hens Party Adelaide has you sorted. Our packages range from $30 per person to $90 per person. Whether you’re more interested in art, nature, dancing, drinking or cooking we have you sorted. In saying that – here’s a little inside tip! Life drawing is our most popular package. It’s also the best mid range option that won’t break the bank but is guaranteed to provide a plethora of laughs and good times.

  1. The accessories & decorations

Hens party accessories and decorations are an essential to get everyone in the party mood. They’re also key to making sure that the hen really feels its her special day. But, there’s no need to overdo it! We recommend setting a budget for accessories and decorations and sticking to it. Going in with no plan and budget could lead to a disaster that leaves you with 20 balloons you don’t need and an overflowing budget.

We’ve done our best to stock what we deem the essentials at an affordable price. You can check those out here:

Lastly, an important tip! Get your guests to RSVP and pay as soon as possible. Knowing how many guests you’ll have is key to planning your budget out.

If you’re stuck on what to say to your guests to communicate this to them, here’s a little something we put together that you can use.

“Hey ladies! We’re so excited to be hosting ___ hens party and we would absolutely love it if you could come. It’s going to be a big day, filled with fun and laughs.

Seeing as we understand that everyone has a different budget when it comes to these kind of events we are going to try and make the day as cheap as possible so that everyone can afford it. However, in order for the day to be amazing and still cheap we need to do lots of planning. In order to plan the budget and the cost of activities, venue etc we need to know the number of people attending as soon as possible. This will help us accurately give you an estimate on how much everyone will need to contribute. At the moment we’re aiming to keep the cost at around __ per person.

So, if you could let us know as soon as possible whether you’ll be able to make it we would really appreciate it. The official RSVP date will be ___ But, the sooner you respond the better the day will be.”

We hope these tips and tricks help you out to create a special day! If you have any questions about your hens party we’d be happy to help. Give us a call on 0410 767 869 or email us !
